Dustproofing Measures for Switch Usage Environments
"MLS Series" - Risks of Foreign Object Intrusion and Examples of Design and Selection Measures
【Background】
Past market malfunctions have confirmed conductive failures caused by the ingress of foreign matter such as dust, wear particles, and paper dust.
(MLS-16/-29/-32/-40/-129/-140 Series)
General switches are not sealed, so foreign matter may enter depending on the operating environment and installation conditions.

① Switch Orientation/Mounting Direction
-
If the opening faces upward, dust can easily accumulate and enter the switch.
-
In dusty environments, we recommend placing the switch with the opening facing downward or to the side.

② External shield to prevent foreign objects from entering
-
The structure around the opening prevents dust from entering directly into the opening.
-
Possible measures include using covers or shielding plates.
※The effectiveness of external shield will vary depending on the usage environment and structural conditions.
※The diagram is an example of a countermeasure.

③ Dustproof switch recommended
